Project Overview

This project involved the relaunch of the Concordia insurance company’s website using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and AEM Forms. As part of the development team, I contributed to the creation of new components and services, and implemented integrations with external systems through XML interfaces.

Technical Challenges

The implementation presented several significant technical challenges:

  • Complex Form Implementation: The insurance website required sophisticated forms for quotes, applications, and customer service requests, which needed to be both user-friendly and capable of complex validation.
  • External System Integration: The website needed to integrate with multiple backend systems through XML interfaces to provide real-time data and process customer submissions.
  • Content Management: The editorial team required flexible content management capabilities while maintaining a consistent brand experience.
  • Performance and Accessibility: The site needed to meet strict performance benchmarks and accessibility standards for a diverse user base.

Solutions Implemented

To address these challenges, we:

  1. Developed reusable AEM components that could be combined to create diverse page layouts while maintaining consistency
  2. Created custom form solutions with AEM Forms, including complex validation and conditional logic
  3. Implemented robust XML integration interfaces for connecting with external insurance and customer management systems
  4. Established performance optimization practices including proper caching strategies and asset optimization
  5. Ensured accessibility compliance through rigorous testing and remediation

Outcomes

The project was a success, with the following outcomes:

  • Successfully launched the new website with improved user experience and modern design
  • Streamlined the form submission process, making it easier for customers to request quotes and services
  • Enhanced content management capabilities, allowing editors to create and update content more efficiently
  • Improved system integration, enabling real-time data exchange with backend systems
  • Created a maintainable and extensible architecture that could accommodate future requirements
